Program

play is magic

All Québec daycare services must implement an educational program that includes activities that:

Promote the overall development of the child by allowing him or her to develop all the dimensions of their person. Particularly the emotional, social, moral, cognitive, linguistic, physical and motor development.

Gradually bring the child to adapt to life in a community and to integrate harmoniously.

The five basic principles that underlie the Ministry’s educational program are:
Every child is unique
Child development is a comprehensive and integrated process
The child is the first agent of his development
The child learns through play
Collaboration between educators and parents is essential to the harmonious development of the child.
The 4 main dimensions of a quality day care service are:

  • The quality of interactions between educators and children.
  • The quality of interactions between educators and parents.
  • The structuring and layout of the premises.
  • The structuring and diversity of activities offered to children.

Program Towards the Pacific

Develop skills for peaceful interpersonal relationships in 4-year-olds.
• Raise awareness and inform parents of the support they can provide to their children so that they develop or reinforce their social skills, especially in situations of conflict resolution.
This program includes several workshops whose specific objectives are to get children to:
• Realize that they are all unique and encourage them to respect differences.
• Develop their ability to identify and recognize certain feelings at home and amongst their peers.
• Manage and express their feelings peacefully.
• Use words to facilitate their interaction with
• Develop listening skills.
• Become aware that their behaviours influence the quality of their relationships;
• Discover and choose solutions for different conflict situations.

Montessori pedagogy

Montessori pedagogy gives children the freedom to explore and develop to their fullest potential while working with didactic materials, in groups and independently, within a prepared environment.

These are the benefits:
An adequate environment,
Equipment adapted to each child’s level
Specific presentations from teachers
Each of the children:
Follow their own pace of work
Follow their own personal interests

Our daycare program encourages all aspects of your child’s development. We provide activities and experiences that promote independence, self-help skills, confidence and individuality. We also promote kindergarten readiness and various learning concepts as the children show interest.

The development of the child is a trip in express speed!
Never in all his life will he have so many changes in such a short time!
Here is a quick overview of everything the child will learn during these first five years of life:
During his first year of life, the toddler will triple in weight and increase in size by one third.
Your toddler will also move from the fetal position to the standing position.
He will learn to interact and also to create a meaningful relationship with the people around him.
Experience the basics of conversation by tweeting, then babbling and discovering his environment with all its senses: touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight.
Subsequently, between 1 and 3 years old, he continues to explore the world.
He walks, runs and climbs without difficulty.
He gradually learns to express himself, first by gestures, then words and finally short sentences.
He learns to assert himself, even if paradoxically it is by saying “NO”.
He gradually discovers the pleasure of being surrounded by other children, but also the frustration of the toy he loves so much being removed.
He gradually controls his sphincters and learns to go to the bathroom.
He slowly develops his autonomy and he wants more and more to do things alone. He is capable as he says so well!
Then, from 3 to 5 years old, he makes his first real friends with whom he invents an imaginary world that is very colorful!
With them, he also learns to negotiate, share and live moments of great complicity filled with laughter!
He identifies very much with adults, we see his interest in games of imitation.
His body has no secrets for him: he can climb, jump, climb stairs and even balance on one leg!
He learns to draw, to paint, to tinker, to recognize symbols and images and to associate them with words he knows, the first rudiments of awakening to reading and writing.

Soon he will be ready for school. Phew!

Play

Play

For Ferland, play is the primary language of the child (Ferland, 1998)

The play, by its multidimensional character, makes it possible to solicit all the spheres of development of the child. It thus helps to stimulate both skills (know-how) and attitude (know-how) (Ferland, 1992).
Five main functions can be attributed to the game:
Pleasure
Discovery
Mastery
Creativity
Self-expression
First, it is by playing that the child experiences this pleasant feeling that is pleasure.
The child also learns through the game that he exercises some control over his environment since he has the power to decide. In his game, the child acquires a sense of control that may have the effect of improving his self-esteem.
In addition, the game gives the child the opportunity to develop his imagination and creativity. He can transform and adapt reality as he wishes.
He can also invent characters and wacky situations.
Finally, the game can allow the child to express his feelings. He uses gestures to communicate what he feels.
The management of Lapinou Lapina daycare found that the children do not move enough at daycare. To remedy this situation, the daycare has increased the opportunities for active games. In each room, a corner of furniture and carpets has been created and a game bank has been created.
