Health care

The daycare center’s nurse provides onsite assessment of a sick or injured child’s needs. The nurse presence in our daycare tracks each child’s medical records while they are enrolled. The nurse in our daycare also maintains records of each child’s physical development. If the daycare center has children with special needs, the nurse supervises any accommodations necessary to serve those children. The daycare center nurse provides training to the center’s staff. She also monitors the facilities for health issues and cleanliness. Keeping the center’s staff and parents informed about health care with emphasis on preventative care is a duty of the nurse, as well.

The nurse clinician specializing in Lapinou Lapina Daycare can guide the parents towards specialists concerning the clinical situations of their child in order to anticipate any potential risk. For example: detect otitis in children and especially in repetition and guide them to an ENT to ensure the proper therapy necessary to save the hearing of the child and improve his language status.

The nurse can also monitor and evaluate the manifestations and clinical signs of a child’s illness and take the necessary care guidelines to promote the child’s health.

Children can catch a lot of diseases that can appear at the daycare: colds, flu, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, viral infections, gastro, recurrent bronchitis (may be as a result of gastric reflux), gastro, otitis, tonsillitis, pain caused by the dental flare, prolonged fever etc.

Dental hygiene and brushing teeth in Lapinou Lapina Daycare

Dental hygiene and brushing teeth

In Lapinou Lapina Daycare we promote young children's dental health by teaching good dental habits. Here are some of our daily routines to help keep children's teeth healthy:

Begin good dental care early

Start cleaning infants’ gums even before teeth appear by using a small toothbrush without toothpaste.

We make sure each child has a personal toothbrush

Label the brush with the child’s name.

Build on children’s early interest in brushing

Toddlers and infants are likely to express a lot of interest in the care of teeth. They love to watch adults and older children brush and floss their teeth. This early interest can lead to good dental habits later on. Build in tooth brushing as a regular part of the mealtime routine in child care.

Group of 2 or 3 years old can start using toothpaste

We help children in this range of age to start cleaning their teeth with water and a soft-bristled toothbrush. We also help them how to spit out and not swallow excess toothpaste after brushing.

Having healthy teeth allows children to chew properly. Healthy eating goes hand in hand with good dental hygiene. Tooth decay can develop very early in a child’s life. It can be caused by the frequent consumption of sugary foods and drinks, the frequent and prolonged use of the bottle or the lack of brushing with fluoride toothpaste.

That’s why it’s important to our Lapinou Lapina Day Care Center to give preference to non-sticky, low-sugar foods such as cheese, vegetables and fresh fruit, protecting against tooth decay. Occasionally, children are also offered milk or water as they can effectively help restore the pH of saliva, thus also  limiting the risk of tooth decay. As well as brushing teeth with fluoride toothpaste supplied after meals and before bedtime at Lapinou Lapina Daycare to ensure the prevention of tooth decay.

However, all educators play a vital role in the acquisition of this routine by regularly performing a toothbrushing activity with fluoride toothpaste and by teaching children from the age of 2 years good brushing techniques to provide teeth healthy mouth.
